Workplace Violence
POLICY:
Violent behavior of any kind or threats of violence, either implied or direct, are prohibited at GFM Environmental Services. Such conduct by a GFM Environmental Services employee will not be tolerated. An employee who exhibits violent behavior may be subject to criminal prosecution and shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including dismissal. Violent threats or actions by a non-employee may result in criminal prosecution. GFM Environmental Services will investigate all complaints filed and will also investigate any possible violation of this policy of which we are made
aware. Retaliation against a person who makes a complaint regarding violent behavior or threats of violence made to him/her is also prohibited.

GFM Environmental Services Policies and Procedures relating to workplace violence are developed in accordance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Code 2009. Alberta’s requirements appear as Part 27 of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Code. For the purposes of the OHS Code, violence
means the threatened, attempted or actual conduct of a person
that causes or is likely to cause physical injury. Section 390 of the
OHS Code requires employers to develop a policy and procedures respecting potential workplace violence. Section 8 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation
requires that the procedures be in writing and available to workers.
